Today we left at 1:00 or so and drove to Pitt Lake.  Where we proceeded to have a short walk where mostly we provided a boundary against which our eldest could push...and push and push and push and push and push and push.  Nothing like the security of consistent boundaries..eh?  But  it was exhausting for all of us.  "now?"  "How about now?"  "If this then NOW?"  "Now?"  "OH...I didn't HEAR YOU."  "Now?"  LOL  NOOOOOOOOOOOO.  Not even negotiating was working.  We sucked and all of that lovely 12 year old stuff...we were lame and chose stupid things to do.

So after not taking all of that too personally, we had to be done and on our way home.

We went through Maple Ridge to the river and took the Albion Ferry across to Fort Langley.  I had never been on the Albion Ferry.  What a trip that leg of our excursion was!  I'll post pictures tomorrow.  It was a 3 or 4 Ferry wait and we had "family fun in the car" (with some "NOW?" thrown in for good measure).  It was fun.  The river was moving so fast.  It was interesting noting the current's effect on the ferry.  EEK.

Once home we ate the cake the kids and I made for father's day.  I always think it is good, but really it is so rich and sweet it is hard to swallow.  I feel this strange tingling in my throat and chest when I eat it (the same feeling I get when I eat too much chocolate).  It is a box choco cake, mix as normal, bake 3/4 of it in a 9x13 pan for 15-20 minutes.  Pour caramel mix over hot cake.  Caramel mix:  2 packages of carmels (350grams by weight or so), 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1/4 cup butter.  All heated and stirred smooth.  Over the caramel mixture sprinkle 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 cup chocolate chips.   Pour the remaining batter over cake and bake another 15-20 minutes.  It is so sickly sweet!  Shane LOVES it...so great, it's for him.
